January is Poverty Awareness Month—a time to turn our attention to understanding the challenges of living in poverty and take action. Together, we can learn about the hardships faced by those with few resources and think about how to use our time, skills, and money to help. By raising awareness, showing kindness, and working to end poverty, we can make a real difference.
This month, people worldwide reflect on poverty and unite to become part of the solution.
Ending Dire Poverty Every Day
Speaking of a solution, Bright Hope has a proven plan to alleviate extreme poverty. And for more than 50 years, we’ve been doing just that!
At Bright Hope, every month is like Poverty Awareness Month. Together with our steadfast Allies, we work all year to help families across the globe follow the path out of extreme poverty.
Thanks to our generous Allies, look at what we accomplished together in 2024:
- We delivered 125,320 meals to the hungry.
- We shared medical care with 200,043 people.
- We provided 27,190 people with clean water.
- We offered scholarships and educational support to 5,056 young people.
- And much more…
Thank you for responding to God’s call to care for the poor by offering nourishment for today, opportunities for tomorrow, and hope for eternity.
Sadly, the problem of extreme poverty won’t disappear as January turns into February. Children in poverty will still go to bed hungry, without the chance for education or skills that could change their futures. Many will lack access to basic healthcare when they fall ill.
But with any ongoing struggle, we need an ongoing solution.
