Giving Tuesday Matching Challenge: ENDS TODAY!

It’s Giving Tuesday! Your support TODAY will go twice as far to break the cycle of extreme poverty for those in need, thanks to a generous matching grant!

Poverty is a global crisis, trapping millions in cycles of hunger, violence, and deprivation. But there is hope. And together, we can break these cycles for good and spark lasting change.

When we first began working in Jinja, Uganda, parents missed meals to feed their kids, the elderly lacked basic hygiene and maternal and infant mortality rates soared.

After five years of training, several of our church partners in Jinja are now self-sufficient and 60+ families have benefited from farming and saving programs. However, the pig farming initiative, led by Pastor Ippolito, has been a true game-changer. The expanded piggery program has boosted family incomes and provided vital support to the community.

The Legacy of Hope

Pastor Ippolito shared: “I love all my animals, but this one pig is more than just an animal. He’s a business partner, continuing the legacy of Bright Hope in our community since we graduated in 2023.”

In 2023, the community of Jinja graduated from Bright Hope’s five-year program. Today, over sixty families are thriving thanks to the lasting impact of Bright Hope’s initiatives, including the Savings for Life program. Through this program, families are able to save a portion of their earnings, providing financial stability and a buffer against unexpected challenges.

A key component of this success is the piggery project, led by Pastor Ippolito and Faithful Wise Stewards Church. After graduation, Bright Hope helped establish this project, which is now empowering local families.

“Animals are our lifeblood in this community,” says Pastor Ippolito. “They provide solutions to families facing extreme poverty. Every family that receives pigs and cares for them sees their life change. We’ve even solved the church’s feeding challenges by using our boar to generate income. Community members bring their pigs for mating, and in return, we receive a piglet, which we sell to fund the project.”

The church’s business model is designed to help both the community and the church itself. As part of the program, families receive pigsties on loan before they receive pigs. Once their pigs give birth, they repay the loan with no interest. The funds collected support church maintenance and community outreach, including relief efforts for families in need.

One of the program’s most heartening successes involves a couple facing financial hardship. After a mental breakdown caused by overwhelming debt post-COVID, the couple received two pigs from the church. As the pigs give birth, they’ll be able to sell the piglets and rebuild their income, restoring hope to their family.

Thanks to Pastor Ippolito’s unwavering leadership, Bright Hope’s impact continues to transform lives in Jinja. Families continue to feel empowered to reach for lasting change—even one year after graduation!

Your generous gift TODAY will continue to empower churches and families to break the cycle of extreme poverty in communities around the world, just like we’ve done in Jinja, Uganda.

Thanks to a few generous Allies, you have a special opportunity to make your donation go twice as far! Every gift made on Giving Tuesday to share an animal with an impoverished family will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $10,000
