Bible Verses about Serving Others

The Christian Call to Serve

Nobody becomes a Christian by serving God or serving others. Such good works simply cannot save us from the penalty of our sin (Ephesians 2:8-9). God goes first. Jesus gave up His right to be served as God and became a servant to all, both in how He lived and how He died for us.

That doesn’t mean that Christians do not serve others, though. In fact, God created us to do good works and created good works for us to do (Ephesians 2:10). We imitate God as little children imitate their fathers by loving and serving others (Ephesians 5:1-2). We are commanded to take on Jesus’ mindset and attitude: “In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant,” (Philippians 2:5-7).

If you are a believer in Jesus, your mission in life is to serve others in humility, obedience, and above all love. The verses below make this abundantly clear.
