Zambia is known for its natural beauty—from its rugged plains and breathtaking waterfalls to diverse wildlife habitats. However, many people have been devastated by HIV/AIDS, leaving millions of children as orphans. Now, almost half the population is only 14 years old or younger, and the majority are trapped in the generational poverty cycle.
But because of our faithful Allies, Bright Hope has invested in Zambia to help poor families build sustainable lives. Check out these updates from Zambia!
What’s new in Zambia?
Girl’s Dorm
Poverty impacts girls hard, leaving them to overcome hunger, illness, depression, and danger. But education can provide one of the surest paths out of poverty, and a girls’ dorm can help.
Thank you again for caring for vulnerable high school girls in Zambia and helping us raise $75,000 to build their dorm. We are almost done building a safe, sanitary, secure place for the girls to rest so they can journey out of poverty.
Check out the latest pictures fresh from the construction site in Kalasa Mukoso.
The Christian Farmer’s Association
The Christian Farmer’s Association has grown so much over the years. The CFA helps impoverished farmers in rural northern Zambia to increase their incomes and build sustainable lives. The program enables subsistence farmers (personal consumption producers) to become emergent farmers (small-scale commercial producers).
When Bright Hope launches the CFA program into a new community, they also train farmers to read, understand, and apply God’s Word to their lives. You can read about Alice who discovered the eternal hope she has through faith in Christ.
Just recently, the CFA purchased its first steers!
And….. pigs!
One of the farmers in Kalasa Mukoso received a delivery of piglets. Aren’t they cute?
This mama will give birth to piglets soon! How many do you think she will have?
Pray for Zambia
- Please ask God to end the cholera outbreak in Zambia. Officials have registered nearly 9,000 cases and more than 350 people have died. Please ask God to protect vulnerable populations from this dangerous virus and to heal those who have already gotten sick.
- Pray for open doors and financial provision to improve access to clean water, sound sanitation, and education for health and hygiene.
- Ask our heavenly Father to empower Bright Hope’s church partners in Zambia to meet the spiritual, physical, and emotional needs of families affected by the cholera outbreak.
- Praise God that the Girls’ Dorm at Kalasa Mukosa High School is on schedule to open in May! Please pray for God’s protection and provision for construction crews. And ask Him to keep the female high school students safe until they can move into their new dorm.
